This includes my little corner of paradise. I have lived in Colorado for a bit now and thought I knew what it was about. I have since learned that Colorado in an apartment is different than Colorado in your own home.

- I do NOT have appropriate footwear to go out and shovel snow that is as deep as the bumper of my truck.

- Multiple layers of clothes are great for keeping warm, but lousy for mobility.

- The guy across the street had a great idea when he had the front end loader clear his driveway and the street in front of his house. He had a lousy idea when the snow got piled right across from my driveway.

- Whoever said it was a light snow needs to reexamine the facts. I agree it isn't wet and heavy, but after being blown and packed for a day and a half it is many things, and light and fluffy isn't part of the description.

- Ergonomic snow shovels are worth the investment.

- I need a pair of coveralls.

- Hot chocolate is my friend.

- My normally odd dog gets even more bizarre in the snow.

The Cabinets

Okay, I admit it- I've been so busy with Scouts and everything else I haven't posted pics in quite some time. I hadn't owned the house for 24 hours when I took it down. After I removed the carpet I realized why the vinyl had been covered. I also learned the floor by the front corner of the tub was rotted. I covered the floor with 1/4 inch plywood and concrete layment and then used peel and stick tiles that look like tile squares.

The wall behind the sink has been half a$$ed. We're having a cream can and a few kegs of beer at my place September 2. I hear Scope Dope and a few of the other furiners asking what a cream can is. Gotta admit, didn't have a clue when I got here. You take the cream can (large metal can used by farmer 40-70 years ago to take cream and milk to market) and fill it full of sausages, potatos, corn on the cob and other good things, throw in a beer, cook it over fire until it steams, and then have a grand old time. Oh, and since I only have one lawn chair you'd better bring your own, I don't think we'll all fit.

bathroom floor got all the old carpet and vinyl up- the really hard part was the previous owner was staple gun happy with the carpet padding. Didn't think I was ever going to get the staples dug out. Got the 1/4" ply wood layed down and screwed in. And since there were no shut offs for the sink those got installed. Then the fun began. The portland cement based floor laymant that is used to even things out got mixed. After multiple batches, and multiple attempts at smoothing, I have a floor that is ready for the next step, the application of peel and stick tile. Which is tomorrow's job. Along with putting back the toilet in my one bathroom house. And, hopefully, finding the cable for my camera.

pics

So, I gave up on blogger and went to photobucket to host images.

The front of the new house. I am trying to finally post some pics, and it keeps telling me I have cookie issues. I've gone in and changed the setting to allow blogger to set cookies but it still isn't happy. I don't really like allowing just anyone and their trained monkey to set cookies on my computer. Guess I'm off to find a geek to see if there is a compromise between what I want and what they want.

So, I went over to blogger help- after reading some, "It worked for me when..." posts I nuked cookies which didn't work, I restricted cookies, I cleared the cache, I allowed all cookies- I did everything my poor little brain can think of and still no images.

the floor goes on

Got up the carpet and the pad- the dirt under the pad was horrible. The carpet was gross. The bad news is that the floor itself seems to be rotted under the vinyl flooring next to the tub. The rest seems to be in good shape. So, now the question is: Do I ignore it? Do I cut it out and re build the floor? Do I have faith that the repairs that are visible as part of the basement ceiling are done well and that the tub won't fall through into my crafting or that I won't fall through into my crafting? I think the area under the tub is sturdy, it's just the wood floor in front of the tub at the corners that are yucky. Too many decisions. I need beer or wine or vodka and some brainless conversation. Off to find my favorite lushes.

Bathroom carpet

Floor Okay, the bathroom carpet is up- the stuff was stuck to the carpet in the kitchen- so now my kitchen carpet is just going to hang there, worse it has a nail strip under it, oh well. I'm getting ready to tear out the carpet padding and nail strips. Too much fun. The old flooring under the carpet is gross. I now need to decide how gross. If it's only a little gross I can just use a little floor float to even things up. If it's as gross as I'm thinking it might be then I get to go get 1/4" plywood and relay the floor. Yuck.

Fridge The fridge doesn't stink anymore. The metal shelves cleaned up pretty good after soaking in bleach water overnight. The plastic shelves are in fairly good shape after soaking over night. The drawers went into the bleach water last night and are still there. I'm going to throw them and the plastic shelves into the truck and take them to the car wash tomorrow. It has more pressure than the garden hose and will get the dead stuff that's stuck in the tracks out.

pix lost a cable in the move.
