the floor goes on
Got up the carpet and the pad- the dirt under the pad was horrible. The carpet was gross. The bad news is that the floor itself seems to be rotted under the vinyl flooring next to the tub. The rest seems to be in good shape. So, now the question is: Do I ignore it? Do I cut it out and re build the floor? Do I have faith that the repairs that are visible as part of the basement ceiling are done well and that the tub won't fall through into my crafting or that I won't fall through into my crafting? I think the area under the tub is sturdy, it's just the wood floor in front of the tub at the corners that are yucky. Too many decisions. I need beer or wine or vodka and some brainless conversation. Off to find my favorite lushes.

Hi CC: If the floor is rotting it's better to replace it now instead of waiting because then whatever you put on top will have to be pulled up again. This happened to us and it started beside the tub.
Isn't owning your own home fun. Sounds like you are getting a lot accomplished.

Replaced it! My friend's "new" house was like that. One day she sat down on the second floor throne, only to find herself in the first floor kitchen amid much debris and some fairly painful injuries. If you've got a basement, then you could end up in there one night when you hop into the tub with your Crusie and a chocolate martini.
