Snow

Most of Colorado is in the grips of a blizzard. This includes my little corner of paradise. I have lived in Colorado for a bit now and thought I knew what it was about. I have since learned that Colorado in an apartment is different than Colorado in your own home.

- I do NOT have appropriate footwear to go out and shovel snow that is as deep as the bumper of my truck.

- Multiple layers of clothes are great for keeping warm, but lousy for mobility.

- The guy across the street had a great idea when he had the front end loader clear his driveway and the street in front of his house. He had a lousy idea when the snow got piled right across from my driveway.

- Whoever said it was a light snow needs to reexamine the facts. I agree it isn't wet and heavy, but after being blown and packed for a day and a half it is many things, and light and fluffy isn't part of the description.

- Ergonomic snow shovels are worth the investment.

- I need a pair of coveralls.

- Hot chocolate is my friend.

- My normally odd dog gets even more bizarre in the snow.

Stay warm and don't over do anything. Except maybe curling up with a good book.

Although we never quite got the snow that Colorado does, I grew up at the southern point of Lake Michigan in LaPorte Indiana, which is apparently French for 'lake effect snow." Fences were next to useless because all the neighborhood dogs would simply walk over them.

Ah, the days when the possibily of a genuine snow day meant something.
